Bedding Plants or Seeds ( ABCwildflowers)? 1. Bedding Plants. African Marigolds, Petunias,
Bizzy Lizzy.
I am using the above popular summer bedding plants
to plant a 10mt x1mt 10sqmts.
Bedding plants are planted between 15cm(6") -- 20cm (8") apart,
( normally 36 plants to a sqmt).
I will be generous and plant at 20cm (8") apart.
At this distance you will need 25 plants to the square metre,
and for 10 sq metres you
will require a minimum of 250 plants.
African marigolds are usually sold in Packs of six
this means that you will require a minimum 0f 42 packs of six
to cover 10 sq mts.
The price of six African marigolds is between £1.50 to £2.40.
So lets go for the lowest price £1.50 this means to plant 10 sq mts.
with Bedding Plants it could cost you £ 63.00 pounds.

Weedkill area with Roundup (Glyphosphate weedkiller).
The marked area has been treated with weedkiller (roundup) on 5/09/09. I intend to
prepare this area for wildflowers.
Flower Beds that have had bedding plants in the past, may only require hoeing or hand weeding.
And with good soil a light rake, before sowing seed.
